When we decided to write and dedicate a song to Bernie Sanders and the movement that he inspired, we realized the ideals that he stands for go far beyond his campaign or his candidacy. They are rooted in our history. They are embedded in our communal hearts and minds.
As teens in the 1960s, we remembered the protests of the day… against the Viet Nam war, for civil rights and integration… and the powerful songs that those movements generated. We decided that we missed not only those songs, but the sense of joining together in a greater common goal.
Over the past few days we have been simply overwhelmed by the strong interest in our song/video tribute to Bernie Sanders“The Song That Needs to be Sung.”
