Well, tonight I started my formal career in politics. I joined a Bernie Sanders local phonebank. I was a little nervous to start, but after we all worked out our technology bugs and practiced a little, it went just fine. As is expected, many of the calls went unanswered, or people just didn't want to talk, but when they did it was music to my ears. Each person who began to open up told me things like they were Feeling the Bern, or that they supported Bernie from the start of his campaign. It really gave me back so much needed hope. I have been using social media, and of course i use myself as a walking/driving billboard covered in t-shirts, pins, stickers, and magnets pretty consistently to promote the cause. I am finally seeing the fruits of my labors ripen as people I have known for years have begun to realize Bernie is everyone’s candidate, and are planning to vote Democrat this year for the first time (to be clear, my republican friends will only be voting Democrat if Bernie is the candidate — I’m in no matter what). I plan to keep calling for Bernie as the primaries move through the initial states, and hope that my small part helps. Keep up the good fight everybody, see all you Michiganders March 8th to vote for Bernie!
